The training began last summer. Mandy and I decided we were going to give running a try. We started with a running plan designed to get us to run for 30 minutes without stopping. It was a rough start - getting winded after 3 minutes - but we stuck with it. (Word to my homie - I could not have done this without you, 22!)
I didn't really start training until February. The plan I was on had me running 4 days a week - which slowly turned into my modified plan of 2 days a week. As I was trying to finish the last 4 miles, I was regretting skipping some of those short runs during the week!
The half marathon was one of the most incredible things I have ever been a part of. I have never been surrounded by such a mass of encouraging people in my life! My parents met me along several parts of the route, Cameron and Jeremy were near the end, and Phil and Christie were along the last stretch cheering me on. It was incredible to have my family there cheering me on, but what was just as encouraging were the complete strangers that cheered relentlessly for all the runners. The entire course was lined with people yelling, clapping, encouraging, shouting out your name, giving high fives, and passing out drinks (of all kinds!). I felt surrounded by joy and survival through the entire route.
Even though my body was aching, my spirit was soaring. I encourage everyone to be a part of the experience next year - whether walking, running, or just cheering! When can I sign up for next year?

Proud of you. Congratulations on a great life achievement!
Love the pics, especially the last one...who's the giant?
I'd rather be pregnant again...throwing up 60 times a day and on home health!
If I can talk Brooke into it I will do the full 26.2 with you!
